Call to Action: Mental Health Check-In
Every day, the dedicated team members at Texas Children’s demonstrate excellence in patient care, research, and supportive services. While this work is deeply meaningful, the responsibility of caring for others can also lead to emotional strain and physical fatigue.
Caring for others starts with caring for ourselves. Prioritizing personal well-being is essential to sustaining our effectiveness and maintaining the compassion and quality our patients deserve. When we take care of our own health, we are better equipped to support our patients, colleagues, and communities.
Taking time for routine self-assessment—including regular mental health check-ins—is an important part of that commitment. These check-ins are a proactive way to reflect on our emotional and psychological well-being and to seek support when needed.
There are several ways to complete a mental health check-in:
- Visit the Employee Medical Clinic for an assessment for depression or anxiety. Call 832.824.2424 to schedule an appointment.
- Complete a structured mental health assessment through EAP Plus by Headspace. To enroll, use the Headspace TCH link or call 855-888-5223.
- Speak with an internal EAP counselor to schedule time to discuss any mental health concerns. Call 832.824.3327.
- Talk with your Primary Care Provider about mental health screening.
